Background			Established in mid-2000, Gene Tech (Hong Kong) Company Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of Gene Group Holdings Limited- a holding company principally engaged in biotechnology related business including distribution of biotech research products, biotech R&D and manufacture as well as Traditional Chinese Medicine technology development. The Group is headquartered at Hong Kong with allied offices located at sixteen major cities of China - Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Xian, Kunming, Tianjin, Changchun, Wuhan, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Shenyang, Jinan, Taiyuan, Changsha and Chongqing.
Development			With laboratory establishment and high quality research personnel at Hong Kong, Gene Tech (Hong Kong) Co Ltd initiated its research efforts in Biotechnology with focus on Diagnostic devices. Being capable of leading on the technology front has made the Company a collaborative partner with major research players in academia and industry, as well as a grantee of Hong Kong government research funding to its R&D projects. Gene Tech (Hong Kong) Co Ltd adopts aggressive strategy over protection of its portfolio of intellectual property, including patents and trademarks. The Company files patent applications for its inventions to the patent authorities in the US, China and other countries around the world, as well as trademarks in the countries where the Company conducts its business. By October 2002, Gene Tech (Hong Kong) Co Ltd has strengthened its R&D and manufacturing capabilities by acquiring a majority interest of a Sino-Hong Kong joint venture - Gene Tech Biotechnology (Shanghai) Company Limited, located at Cao He-jing High-Tech Park of Shanghai. With over 7,000 sq feet of laboratory and clean-room facilities, Gene Tech Biotechnology (Shanghai) is an excellent breeding ground for quality R&D as well as a hub for positioning Gene Tech (Hong Kong) Co Ltd as a major player in the fast growing drug development and pharmacogenomics research market in China.
